In the movie "The Big Year" about BIRDERS...
they showed a pair of Eagles just like this only with their feet actually entwined as they fell through the air, in what was indeed an act of mating... according to the film.. . it was actually really cool, as I'd never seen anything like it, and would not have known what this was, had I not just seen the film! :D

Brilliant catch! :boogie:

By the way, if anyone likes birds at all "The Big Year" is one to rent... [since it's out for rental now]

and it is about birds and birding, but also so much more... wonderful film. :aww:

Spent most of my life outdoors , seen many eagles ,hawks owls etc. etc. I've seen crows pestering eagles & hawks by dive bombing them & flying circles around them but have never seen anything quite like this . Lucky you to not only have seen it but also have the presence of mind to photograph it . Well done .

Any idea as to why they did this ? Part of a mating ritual maybe ?
